This was my first Jaunt. I've known the drummer for many years through Phish outlets, and as such, the music that The Jauntee makes is perfectly expected.
These guys threw down in an impressive showing on Wednesday. It took a little for them to warm up, but once they launched into "Puppy In My Pocket", it took off. This song is my highlight of the night, memory-wise. Soaring lattice-work of inter-weaving non-connectedness. Each part comes together in an unexpected way, making the whole Jauntee sound larger than the sum of its parts.
Caton was soaring, nearly falling over during this tune.
The rest of the show is super solid and tight, with a lot of exploration in "Enjoy The Ride" (as its supposed to provide).
After the show I crashed at Castle Jauntula. Needless to say, whatever is going on in Boston is something truly wonderful that only occurs once a generation, at the right time, with the right people, in the right place. San Francisco > Burlington > Boston.
